This time I made over my LinkedIn profile..finally!
Welcome to the first ‘behind-the-scenes’ edition of The Iconic Edge.
If you didn't read the last edition, I am changing the way I run this newsletter. Rather than just telling you what to do, I am showing you.
Everything I teach, I am going to act out myself and build in real time.
That means some things will work, some things won't, but it will always be real.
Here is what actually happened this week.
Rebuilding my LinkedIn profile in an hour
Last week, I promised you I would be redoing my LinkedIn profile. A complete re-write to match what I’m actually doing now.
I had planned to take some time over it.. So I could really give you a good overview in this edition. But my business had a different idea!
It has various strands, and one of them took over this week. And I found myself up until yesterday evening with having had absolutely no time to work on my profile.
Thankfully, because I work with AI as my partner, having little time wasn't a problem.
If you are growing your Iconic Edge alongside a busy day job, this is exactly how you can execute when you are short on time.
My deadline was today, so I had to get it done. It took me about an hour in total.
Here is exactly how I did it:
Voice-to-Text Brain Dump:.Instead of typing, I opened a blank Notes document and used a speech-to-text app called Vowen. I talked about exactly what I wanted to change about my banner, headline, about section, and featured section.
(Speech to text has been a revelation to me. It really makes everything so much easier from editing to writing messages to emails. You just speak so much faster than you can type, and you can always go back in and edit afterwards. There are lots of other apps on the market, but I found this one really works for me and it's free!)
The AI Critique: I didn't ask AI to write it from scratch. I took my dictated notes, did a quick typed edit, and copied it to Claude (my AI co-worker). I also added a link to my current LinkedIn page. (I’ve already trained Claude on everything about my working life which sped things up. I recommend you do this at some point)
The Expert Review: I asked a specific Claude agent, I’ve trained to be a LinkedIn expert, to help me shift to my new positioning. I had it review each section (Headline, Banner, About, Featured) to make sure it fit the 2,600-character limit and hit the right notes.
Final review by me: I always make sure I am the last pair of eyes over any piece of content I create to make sure it passes the ‘gut check’ test.
Visuals in Canva: I went directly to Canva (a design app) to design the banner. I did use AI to help me choose which photos would work best and how the banner would display on mobile vs. desktop, but I handled the actual design myself in Canva.
Key Insights: Working with AI as your Partner
If there is one thing you take away from my workflow this week, let it be this: Always write everything yourself first, then get AI to review it as an expert.
You don't need to know every single LinkedIn rule because your AI partner does. You just need to put your ideas in first, get a critique from your AI LinkedIn expert, make your edits, and publish.
🔥 Some AI prompting tips: Always state the current year when asking for a review. For example, say: "This is August 2026. I want this review to include all the best tips and advice for LinkedIn in 2026." Different years have different algorithms, so this ensures you get the most up-to-date advice.
You also don't need to have a trained AI agent like me to be able to get the best result. Just give it as much context as possible. For example, you could upload your CV, you could share what you enjoy, what your expertise is or any feedback that have been given to you. The more you share the easier the process will be.
What I Learned
I learned that I can get my LinkedIn profile done in a very short space of time using my AI workflow. But I also learned that I need to intentionally make space in my life for this project.
I need to make sure I give time to building my own iconic edge for my own life, and so I can show you how to do the same (I’ve asked Claude to book regular time in my calendar from now on).
Your Move This Week: The Headline
Now, over to you. What can you do this week to start building your Iconic Edge on LinkedIn?
If you aren't on LinkedIn, get on it. It is the most important platform to be on right now to build a stage for yourself.
If you are on LinkedIn, I want you to focus on improving just one thing: Your Headline.
Your headline follows you everywhere. Whenever you comment or post, people see it.
It shouldn't just be a job title (e.g., "Senior Manager at X"). It needs to be your expertise, a belief you hold, or a perspective that makes you stand out.
For example, mine is: AI doesn't threaten ambitious women, it frees them | Build a name, a stage and an income that are yours to keep | Author, Be Iconic (Coming 2027) | The Iconic Edge Newsletter
Think about what you want people to think of when they see your name. Being iconic is all about being distinctive and irreplaceable.
Write a headline that reflects that.
Bonus Tip: Even if you aren't ready to post your own content, comment on other people's posts a couple of days a week. It gets your name known by the LinkedIn algorithm and helps you build your stage.
Let me know how updating your headline goes!
Next week, I’m working on my website. That may not seem relevant to you right now, but it is. Watch this space.
All my best,
Nichola
